Chamberlain and Lord Halifax Pay Official Visit To Paris
New Affirmation Of Anglo-French Friendship
FRANCE WORRIED
BY SIGNS OF BRITISH
PRO-FASCISM
Paris, To-day.
The visit of Mr. Chamberlain and Lord Halifax to Paris announced last night is regarded as a new affirmation of Franco-British friendship, according to authoritative French circles. Satisfaction is expressed here over the visit, as it is considered very important that France and Britain should maintain the closest contact.
It is pointed out that another] important consideration is that the French Government should learn at first hand, Mr. Chamberlain's programme for the future.
Especially as the recent speeches of the British Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary in Parliament suggest that the British Govern- ment is more sympathetic with the aims of the totalitarian States than will meet with the approval of all sections of the left and Right par- ties in France.
