IN 9-MONTHS' SENTENCE
Found not guilty of causing grievous bodily harm to his 20- year-old fiancee with intent to mur- der or maim or disfigure, but guilty of unlawfully and maliciously caus- ing her injuries, Cheng Shuet-wah, alias Cheng Chup, 23, was sentenced to nine months' hard labour by the Acting Chief Justice, Mr. Justice R. E. Lindsell, at the Criminal Ses- sions this morning.
Accused called two witnesses this morning to give evidence concern- ing his character.
It was alleged that accused, while walking with his fiancee along the Praya from West Point, pushed the girl on to an oncoming motor-lorry,

Mr. Macdonald replied that in accordance with the decisions of successive Imperial Conferences, the Dominion Governments were kept constantly informed. by tele- graph of information at the dis- posal of his Majesty's Government, as well as his Majesty's Govern- ment's policy regarding foreign affairs.
