Scenes of joyful reunion were witnessed in many towns of Germany yesterday when some 6,000 Poles, most of them Jews, returned to their homes following suspension of the order for expulsion of Poles.

The men had days growth of beard and the women, some accompanied by scared children were bleary-eyed with weeping.
