POLICE GROUND RECEIVES ITS BAPTIMISM
SOUTH CHINA WIN
4 Goals To 2
As a part of the celebrations at the opening of their new ground at Boundary Street yesterday, Police |R.C. entertained a South China [team in a friendly football match, | and were defeated by four goals to
two.
Both teams were presented to His Excellency the Governor before the match, being introduced by the respective Captains. His Excel- lency also kicked off.
The ground was packed to capacity, even the touchlines being crowded with football fans.
The Police fielded a mixed team, composed of both Europeans and Chinese, while the South China side included several newcomers.
Tam Kwan-kon, in the South China goal, gave a good display making some wonderful .saves. Tsang Ching-wan played a very steady game at full-back, while Lim Tak-pó and Tse Kam-hung at cen- tre and left half respectively, were both in good form. Woo Chikping, the right winger, missed several chances of sending across centres through dilly. dallying, but should. improve when he gets used to the methods of his colleagues. Lai Shui-wing played a very brainy game at inside-right and kept the forward line on the move with well directed passes. 'Au Shi-ngok. showed plenty of promise in the centre and wanted a lot of watch- ing.
Parker, the Police leader, was the pick of a lively attack, while Wong Mau-kwai gave an excellent display on the right wing.
Brittain, centre half, at worked very hard, but the pick of the de- fence was Chan Kong-yue.
Lai Shui-wing, Woo Chik-ping, Kwok Ying-ki and Au Shi-ngok
scored for South China, while Parker (2) replied for the Police.
