The Chinese spokesman at yesterday evening's press conference reiterat- ed that the main Japanese push westward from Waichow had still not commenced.
The spokesman denied reports that the Japanese had already occupied
Tsengshing and Sheklung,
He added that guerillas were at present being formed in districts north- east and south-west of Tamshui, and these bodies, he claimed, are con- tinually harrassing Japanese lines of communication.
It is confirmed here that the Chinese have destroy-
ed the already damaged Sheklung bridge, in-
