The fighting at Taian is described by the Chinese newspaper "Sao Tan Pao” as the bloodiest that has yet occurred in the Sino-Japanese conflict and the greatest victory won by the Chinese troops. The paper reports that 97 undamaged Japanese tanks were captured by the Chinese troops and that fifty tanks were destroyed by them. Three hundred light and heavy machine guns were captured, 27 Japanese airplanes brought down and a great quantity of heavy guns, rifles, mú- nitions and motor lorries taken.
The Chinese air arm was chiefly responsible for the victory, writes the "Sao Tan Pao," over 100 Chinese airplanes having bombarded the Ja- panese troops two days.
More than 1000 heavy bombs were dropped. Cap- tive balloons were used by the Chinese for the first time.-Trans-Ocean.
