Credit must, however, be given Mr. Peter Y. T. Wel, who rode a grand race on Tampa Bay, L. the winner, and I think Mr. P. From the very start he sent Jober out in front and at one time was. leading by at least eight lengths. bad Elizabeth (Mr. Hearne) had a start and had to make up, a good deal of lost ground. Before reaching the Rock, Mr. Raymond slackened some- what on Jober, which enabled Expan- sion Time and Rob Roy to get within striking distance, but before rounding the bend Jober was off again and, despite all Mr. Needa's efforts, he was unable to get anywhere near to Jober. The race itself was not exciting, but Jober's win was well-deserved.
