SHIPS OF CHINESE COASTAL DEFENCES IN THE PEARL RIVER DELTA, WHERE A NEW LANDING IS ABOUT TO BE MADE.
Yesterday, it is reliably reported, three Japanese cruisers and seven trans-
ports passed to the south of Bias Bay bound for the Delta.
This convoy is reported to be part of the large concentration which had appeared off Swatow earlier, and which left Haimun Bay yesterday
morning.
Apparently landings are to be made near Swatow and also in the Pearl River Delta, the troops in the latter place intending to advance over favourable terrain to the Kowloon-Canton Railway.

Another Japanese column" in the Pingshan-Nimshan sector is driving toward Walchow, from where it hopes to advance to Cheungmuktau and cut the rail- way line there. This column is understood to be still meeting stiff Chinese resistance around Pingshan and Nimshan.
