BACKED by only 13 punters, the Novice rider Mr. Yeung Wing-kwan, provided the outstand- ing feature of the "Double Tenth" Race Meeting at the Valley yesterday, when he brought Na- tional Guard in first in the Fokien Plate to pay the record dividend of $530 for a $5 win bet, and $90.60 for a place bet!

Another fairly substantial dividend was paid out in the Canberra Handicap, when Centre Court (Mr. S. W. Tang) paid $205.20 for a win and $20 for a place bet, while the only other dividend of decent proportions occurred in the Kwangsi Handi- cap, when Red Feather, excellently ridden by Mr. Peter Y. T. Wei paid $56 for a win.

There was only one incident of note, Mr. C. F. Chiu falling off Dark Hazard almost in front of the grandstand in the very ear- ly stages of the Fokien Plate. He was uninjured.

Mr. V. V. Needa headed the list of most successful jockeys for the two days, having three firsts, three seconds and three thirds, and he was closely fol- lowed by Mr. Peter Y. T. Wei with three firsts, two seconds and one third.

The Double Tenth Plate, the main race of the programme provided a
