The Chinese forces yesterday morning captured Siaoloshan, five li east of Loshan, where the Chinese and Japanese are now opposing each other, says a Chinese military communique.. In heavy rain, the Japanese forces at Yuanchu, in south Shansi on the north bank of the Yellow River, on Sunday launched an attack on the Chinese positions, but were repulsed.
Although the Japanese forces are now closing in from three direc tions on Tienchiacheng, on the north bank of the Yangtse below Hankow, the Chinese garrison is stubbornly holding the strategic fort,' says a phone message from there yesterday morning.
