DAY OF INTENSIVE NEGOTIATIONS IN PRAGUE

Prague, To-day.

Yesterday was another day of intensive negotia- tions in which Lord Runciman's mission play- ed an important role.

Mr. Ashton-Gwatkin, the expert of the British Foreign Office lent to Lord Runciman's secre- tariat, and Herr Konrad Henlein, the leader of the Sudeten German Party, had a two-hour conference at the Hotel Carlton in Marienbad and Lord Runciman himself received the lead- er of the Sudeten Germán delegation, Dr. Kundt.

TWO CONFERENCES

The Sudeten German Party and the Czech Government both held conferences in the afternoon.

The Sudeten German Party is- sued a statement which declares that the delegation of the Sudeten

lasted about two hours.

A communiqué issued at the conclusion of the session declares that the Premier replied to the various questions put to him by the Committee, reporting on the international situation, the present military activities of the chief European powers, war supplies and the labour and industrial situation in various countries.

The Premier, moreover, outlined the policy of the French Govern- ment and reported the results hitherto achieved by the French Government in its endeavours to secure the carrying out of the French armament programme. The Fremier gave details of armament production and various measures taken for strengthening the Force and other services.-Trans- Ocean.
