Organ Attacks British Motives
Berlin, To-day. While the German press continues to cite numerous comments from the Czech papers to prove the intransigence of the Czech attitude, political and diplomatic quarters here still maintain considerable reserve in commenting on the sensational reports published abroad concern- ing the new proposals that will allegedly be made by the Czech Government in the near future.
The nature of the new Czech proposals was still un- known here yesterday afternoon and it was therefore rather resented in political quarters! of Berlin that the British press has character- ised the new Czech proposals, which have not yet been revealed by the Czech Government, as "extraordinarily far-reaching concessions."
PHILADELPHIA PRISON DEATH SCANDAL
Philadelphia, To-day.
Two Warders have been in charged with "homicide" connection with the death of four prisoners among those on hunger-strike in the gaol here..
The Warders were ordered held without bail.
The prisoners were found naked in their cells, under con-. ditions which were compared
The semi-official organ,
"Deut- sche Diplomatische Politische Kor- respondenz" declares that belief in the impartiality of Lord Runci- man's mission is bound to suffer if the case of the Czechs is favoured to the disadvantage of the Sudeten Germans by Britain.
:
"Already for some days it has been noticed that London is inclin- ed
to make it appear that the Czechs have done everything pos- sible to settle the problem by granting concessions and that the Czech Government has displayed a conciliatory spirit.
· “INCIDENTS”
"The uninterrupted chain of in- cidents which continued to occur in Czechoslovákia to the detriment of the Sudeten Germans, on the

The Coroner declared that their deaths were due to scald- ing and there were signs of suffocation.-Reuter.
PREMIER GOES TO BALMORAL
London, To-day.
The British Prime Minister, Mr. Neville Chamberlain left Downing
ed as an insignificant matter, and responsibility for the fact that things have not yet been settled is assigned to the German press or to the alleged intransigence of the Sudeten Germans.
"If, besides auch indirect sym- pathy, Prague is also given mater- ial support, it is hardly necessary to explain in detail where such tac- tics must lead. Such tactics. will certainly not help to alleviate con- ditions as such but will only help to accentuate the tension:-Trans- Ocean.
