Johannesburg, August 6. A record crowd of 35,000 at- tended the first International Rugby match between South Africa and Great Britain, played at Ellis Park, in glorious weather.
The game was delayed at the start owing to a section of the. crowd encroaching on the ground. Great Britain started well, and within three minutes had taken the lead, Taylor kicking a penalty. goal. Immediately afterwards Brand, full-back, hit the post with a penalty kick; but the game was only ten minutes old when Brand had better luck with an- other penalty.
