Hankow, To-day.
The spearhead of the Japanese column advancing on Juichang on the south bank of the Yangtze River, which reached Maanshan (Saddle Hill), north of Juichang, has been hurled back by the Chinese defenders, according to the latest mili- tary advices from the front.
The Chinese launched a counter-offensive yester- day and the hill, lying on the route of the Jap- anese advance to Juichang, is now in complete control of the Chinese, who are strengthening the defence works.
