The Australians scored 479 in their first knock and then dismiss- ed Kent for 108 to enforce the follow-on, but the County did much better in their second effort at the wicket, and had lost 4 wickets for 265 runs at the close of play, Ames, and Woolley (81) being associated in a stand.
