YANGTSE NAVIGATION PROHIBITION TAKES ON NEW ASPECT: N.K.K. LIST

Shanghai, To-day.

It is learned from reliable sources that the British authorities are taking an active interest in the new sailing list just issued in Shanghai by the Japanese shipping company Nisshin Kisen Kaisha, announcing regular sailings with cargo up and down the Yangtse.

The list, which is printed in Japanese and distribut- ed only to Japanese merchants, announces among others, sailings every two days to Wuhu and twice weekly to Anking.

One item even includes a sailing fortnightly as far as Kiukiang, which has only been recently oc- cupied and which the Japanese de- clare is too dangerous militarily for the British business men whol have recently evacuated to return there.

"

The British feel that if these sailngs can be made, the Japan- ese argument of military danger hitherto used against British and American ships using the Yangtse can no longer be justi- fied.
