On both banks of the Yangtse, heavy fighting con- tinued without essential changes in the situa- tion being achieved. On the north bank of the Yangtse, Japanese launched a violent attack against the town of Susang.in

Japanese cavalry pressed forward to within 5 kilo- metres of the gates of the town, but the Chinese declare, they were then repulsed. The Jap- anese threw two regiments as reinforcements into the fighting around Susang Military cir cles in Hankow that it is at present impossible to say how long Susang will be able to hold out, but the Chinese declare they will continue to resist to last.
