"Needle" Game In Third Div.

Civil Service And Kowloon Dock: Relegation Danger INTERESTING BOWLS CARD FOR TO-DAY

(By "SKIP").

THE TIT-BIT OF TO-DAY'S BOWLS LIST IS THE GAME BETWEEN CRAIGENGOWER CRICKET CLUB AND KOWLOON DOCK RECREATION CLUB, TO BE PLAYED AT THE VALLEY, The latter club is fielding a pretty strong side for the occasion and the result is by no means a foregone conclusion, although I tip the homesters to win.

In the corresponding match | last year, it may be remembered, "Jock" McKelvie won the game for his side by drawing a won- derful first shot, when

the op- position was counting five, for a handsome win.

de

Kowloon Cricket Club, striving to make the runners-up position a certainty, and also preparing for any slip on the part of Club Recreio, should be able to overcome the Civil Service Cricket Club fair- ly easily, especially as the match is to be played at Cox's Road.

The potential champions, Club de Recreio, travel to Sookunpoo, and although visitors find this green on the tricky side I think the Portu- guese boys know enough to' over- come the difficulties:

The remaining match in this Lea- gue is between Kowloon Bowling Green Club and Police at Austin, Road. Whilst the home team remains as it was, the visitors have made some further changes and I do not imagine that they can prevent the Mainlanders' double win, for they triumphed in the match at the Val- ley earlier in the season.

leaders and runners-up both hav- ing to play away from home, Kow- loon Bowling Green Club are against the Police Club, whom they beat easily in Kowloon. Although the result may be reversed on ac- count of ground advantage, there should not be a great disparity in the scores at the finish.

Club de Recreio will be out to re- habilitate themselves after last Saturday's defeat but they will not find Football Club “A” team one to take liberties with, though they may win narrowly.

Powerful C.R.C. Team Win "C" Tennis League

I have not been able to obtain any

official figures on "C" Division Tennis League records, but from what I have been able to ascertain, Chinese Recrea- tion Club, by defeating Kowloon Tong on Thursday, are assured of retaining the title they regained from Kowloon Indian Tennis Club last year.

Kowloon Tong, who finished last season, early on in the League, established themselves as their most powerful challengers...

Strengthened by the inclusion of se- veral players from Shanghai, of whom H. Lin comes to mind as a hard-hit- accurate ting stylish player with an service and devastating overhead, their form in opening games must have caused C.R.C. some trepidation.

Their victory over Recreio a couple of weeks ago, definitely established them as a first-class side..

However, their defeat on Thursday has placed them out of the running, as it is extremely unlikely that even if C.R.C. have any fixtures outstanding--- and, as I remarked in my opening, I can find nothing reliable to substan- tiate this supposition-they will be beaten.

Kowloon Tong should gain some mea- sure of consolation from the fact that they are likely to finish as runners- up, as against third last year.

C. R. C. are undoubtedly deserving winners. It is only the wealth of ta- lent in the Causeway Bay Club that has necessitated many of the players in the "C" team playing in so junior at brand of tennis.

For example, Wong Shiu-wing, semi- finalist in the Colony open doubles tourney for the last two seasons, in partnership with Luk Ding-cheung With his fine service, reliable ground- strokes and brilliant volleying, I have little doubt that any other Club. in the Colony would jump at his services for the "A" Division.

the finest pairs in the Colony.

Talkoo receive the Civil Servants and should have little dif ficulty in retaining the two points at stake, as they are quite useful on their own green as last week's re-

sult indicated.

Other players who have made their marks in a considerably higher brand of tennis than that in which they are now to be seen are B. Szeto, who, I Kwangtung Province, and has shown up understand, is a high-ranking player in

More interest will be evinced in Finalists last year were: the meeting of the Electricians, At
