Great satisfaction is felt in sporting circles here at the pros- pect of a part of the Olympic Games of 1940 being held in Nor- way, now that Japan has declared that she has withdrawn her claim.
Mr. Thomas Fearnley, leader, of the Norwegian winter sport, told pressmen that Oslo would do its utmost to hold the Olympic Winter Sports of 1940 in the manner' re- quired by Olympic tradition, and is quite able to succeed.

London, To-day. Japan's decision not to, organise the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1940, has attracted much attention here in⠀⠀ quarters connected with the British Olympic Commit tee.
It is stated that the Finnish Government will probably be re- quested to authorise, the 1940. Meeting at Helsingfors and that, should Finland decline the Inter national Olympic, the Committee might address an invitation England. Trans-Ocean.
