COUNCIL OPENS SESSIONS

Hankow, To-day.

The first session of Peoples Political Council which is regarded as the forerunner of the future Chinese Parliament opened here yesterday at nine o'clock in the morning.

The council which is composed of 200 members of various callings and occupations representing 28 provinces of China, was presided over by Mr. Wang Ching-wei.

The greater part of the Peoples Council belongs to the Kuomintang. The Communist Party is re- presented by eight members. It may be added that the Council also numbers among its mem- bers nine women.
