You Don't Know How-To Clean Your New Furniture
I am in the bric-a-brac depart- ment of a large store. I am afraid that I am listening to a conversa- tion. It is between a very angry woman and a salesman.
It seems that she bought a mir- ror glass table a month ago.
It was a dream come true smooth, shining, spongeable, Peach colour, too to match her cur- tains. She saved up for it.
Last week she put a hot tea-pot down on it, and the table cracked right across.
She is enraged. A glass table is to save all that old bother with tea- pot stands and cork mats and polishing off heat marks.

When the salesman explained that mirror glass the kind she bought, anyway is not heat- proof, she said:-
Linseed oil rubbed into terra- cotta tiles produces a delightful, mellow and easily kept surface. Fireplace and wall tiles should be washed regularly and polished with dry cloths.
Glass scratches.
I write this with some feeling.
The people who lived in my house before me cleaned the win- dows with bathbrick.
In some lights they look as if someone had been very busy with a diamond, Nothing can cure them.
Water, soap and water, water and vinegar plus smooth hairless cloths are the best cleaners for any kind of glass.
When you think that, before long, whole houses will be built of glass bricks, it is important to know how to service this material.

There's a lot in what she said.
