Action In Far East

London, To-day.

In the House of Commons, the Rev. R. W. Sorensen (Labour) asked the Prime Minister to propose to the League the immediate consideration of means whereby the economic needs of China and Japan could be assisted through League action and international agreement at the con- clusion of hostilities, or earlier, if the oppor- tunity offered.

Mr. R. A. Butler, replying, recapitulated the recom- mendations already taken by the League re- garding China and added that no request had been received for economic assistance to Japan through League action.

FRANCE PUTS QUESTIONS TO POLAND

Paris, To-day. France's relations with Poland are being reviewed in conversa- tions between M. Bonnet and the Polish Ambassador, who just re- cently returned from Warsaw bringing replies to various ques- tions put by the French Govern- ment, with a view to clarifying the position and strengthening the collaboration of the two al- lied governments.

It is understood that the re- plies were considered satisfac- tory.

Mr. Sorensen then asked if the Prime Minister realised the eco- nomic factor was one of the serious causes of war and required, far more initiative from the Govern- ment than they had hitherto given?

.

The Prime Minister replied that he had already informed the House that the Government fully realised the importance of this matter.

Mr. Sorensen asked if he was satisfied with what was being done and the Prime Minister replied in the affirmative.-Reuter.
