An important constitutional question relating to the privileges of Members of Parliament in relation to action under the Official Secrets Act was raised in the Commons yesterday afternoon and as a result a motion has been "EX-LADY" tabled in the following terms:
"That a Select Committee of the House be appointed to enquire into the substance of the statement made on June 27 by the member for Nor- wood and the action of the Minis- ter concerned and generally the question of the applicability of the Official Secrets Act to Members of this House in discharge of their Parliamentary duties."
The Speaker said that at any time question of their privileges might be raised and it seemed to him their position should be made as clear as might be as soon as possible.
