Yellow River May Find Natural

Hankow, To-day. The flood waters of the Yellow River which crossed the Lunghai Railway on Sunday, have now en- tered the Chialu River, and are flowing south- eastward into the Kwai River, in Anhwei, ac- cording to Chinese despatches from Cheng- chow. The waters are said to have passed Chengmou, Chuhsiencheng and Yushih, and to have reach- ed Yenling, east of Hsuchang. The southern! suburbs of Chungmou have been entirely in- undated, forcing the Japanese to close the south gate of the city.

Level of the flood waters is said to be high at Kaifeng, where the Japanese are reported to have clos- ed all the city gates to prevent the city from being flooded.

In most places, however, the flood waters are stated to be only about three to four feet high, so that be- casualties from drowning are lieved to have been very small.

However, Japanese artillery and mechanised units are said to have been rendered useless.
