The Volunteers captured the limelight in local baseball circles last week when they decisively defeated Recreio's nine by 18 runs to 9, on Sunday morning.

It was generally expected that the game would be a close affair with the odds in favour of the Portuguese, in view of their better pitching, but Bowen who pitched for the Volunteers during the whole game, revealed a glimpse of his former skill and was content with placing them over the plate.
