OATH TO STATE BY PRIESTS IN GERMANY
BERLIN, TO-DAY. THE ADMINISTRATION ΤΟ GERMAN EVANGELICAL CLER- GY OF THE OATH OF ALLEG- IANCE TO THE STATE HAS, ACCORDING TO A STATEMENT BY A WELL-INFORMED |SOURCE, TAKEN PLACE IN THE WHOLE REICH, ALMOST WITH- OUT FRICTION.
This process of administering the oath of allegiance, which has been going on since May 31, and which is exactly as in other coun- tries and puts the Clergy, politi-- cally, on the same fundamental footing as state officials, has met with no difficulties from the Church authorities because it was in fact ordered by the Church au- thorities themselves.
The order to administer the oath was issued by President Werner,. of the Church Chancellery. It is pointed out in this connection, that leading bishops of the Confes-- gional Church like Meiser and Mamrerens, have themselves ad- ministered the oath to Clergy un- der their authority.
IN SOUTH GERMANY
In the last few days, the oath has been administered to almost all South German Clergy. Merely

The motion submitted to Par liament for the expulsion of four other Communist members will be dealt with in one of the next ses- sions. No doubt, however, exists. that the Communists will also lose their mandates.
The expulsion is undertaken on the grounds that weeks before the election was, held, the return of these deputies was propagated by Soviet broadcasting stations in
