NEW GERMAN "CIGAR" TRAIN

A new type of express railcar designed by the railway expert, Herr Kruckenberg, was demon- strated at Hanover yesterday.

The new cigar-shaped train is about 80 yards long, and runs on four swivel axles.

It will seat 100 passengers in comfortable arm-chairs,Trans- Ocean.

DRASTIC CUT IN RUBBER QUOTA

News of the drastic cut in the rubber quota for the third quar- ter to 45 per cent, failed to pro- duce the hoped-for sharp rally in the price of the commodity in London yesterday.

MALAY TIN REFERENDUM

A referendum of tin producers on the Malay States proposal for a tin buffer stock, has resulted in a vote of approximately 2 to 1 in favour of the proposal, states the Colonial Office.

The Colonial Office has decided to accept the proposal in principle in respect to Malaya and Nigeria subject to negotiation of a satis- factorily detailed scheme.

The European vote was 57 per cent. for and 43 against, and the Chinese wote 76 per cent. for and 24 against. Reuter.
