Japan Dropping Out of World Markets

London, To-day.

One of the causes of the extremely disadvantageous decline in commodity prices is the Sino-Japan- ese war, declared Mr. Oliver Stanley, President of the Board of Trade, in the House of Com- mons yesterday.

RECALL OF THE

Mr. Stanley thought the war had a much great- er effect on commodity prices and world trade than was fully realised by people in Britain. "China, in a period of two or - three years, provided an increasing market for British export goods, and many of us, impressed by the new life and organisation in China, by the greater security and pros- pects and by the rising standard of life, were looking to this immense market as a possible solution to many of the export difficulties Britain and other countries.

"The effect of the war upon hopes of that kind have been both imme-i diate and disastrous.

paper "Dienst aus Deutschland,' which gives the number of the ad- visers as "about twenty."

They are, according to this re- port, private persons who are no longer on active military service and are consequently not under discip- linary control of the German mili- tary authorities.

The paper says that the presence of these advisers in China after the outbreak of the Far Eastern conflict had been considered undesirable in Berlin, "because Germany does not wish that a shadow of doubt should be cast on her neutrality."

After stressing the absolutely neu- tral position adopted by Germany in the Sino-Japanese war the paper declares that Germany_maintains- equally friendly relations with China and Japan.-Trans-Ocet n.
