A medical and moral problem which all America has been discussing was decided yesterday by a jury of twelve doctors, scientists and clergy-

men.

The jury agreed on the desirability of an imme- diate operation on a five-weeks-old baby girl, Helaine Colan, who has a growth in her head slowly moving towards the brain, which can be cured only by removing her eyes, thus pre- senting the problem of whether death is pre- ferable to lifelong blindness.
