PLEADS GUILTY TO RECEIVING
Private David Fleming, of the Royal Scots, who was charged on Saturday with stealing a bot- tle of whisky from the Neptune Cafe, Gloucester Road, early that morning and with attempting to break into the cafe, today again made his appearance before 'Mr. H. R. Butters.
He was sentenced to two months' imprisonment on pleading guilty to an alternative charge of receiving a bottle of whisky knowing same to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained. The other charges were withdrawn.
Sub-Inspector Darkin said that at 2 a.m. on Saturday the No. 1 boy of the cafe heard a noise and saw two soldiers on the roof of a land- ing in the back yard. They jumped into the back alley and were cross- ing the road when defendant was arrested.
Evidence would only show that. two soldiers were seen at that time. and that defendant was arrested near the place,
