ITALIAN MINISTER TO ALBANIA KILLED IN SHOCKING AIR TRAGEDY

Rome, To-day.

Djafer Villa, the Albanian Minister in Rome, is among the nineteen killed in an Italian air liner which crashed in the mountains near Fromia] yesterday.

The ill-fated air liner carried 14 passengers and five crew, and the dead include a Briton, Samuel Bretstaff, an American, Helen Lind- heim, four Germans, a Greek, and a Danziger.

FOOD CONTROL IN BRITAIN

London, Yesterday.

The other passengers were a German architect, the director of an Austrian newspaper, and two Italian newsreel photographers.

THREE POWER PACT IN NEAR EAST

Cairo, To-day. Arrangements have been made, according to a report published in the local newspaper “Alahram”. yesterday for concluding a tri- partite pact between Egypt, Greece and Turkey for regulating the questions affecting the Eastern Mediterranean.

The pact, it is stated, will be paragraphed and initialled follow- ing the impending visit of King Farouk to the Turkish capital. Trans-Ocean.

MACAO BROADCASTS TO BE RESUMED

·Macao, To-day.

The Macao Broadcasting Station which had not functioned since the last typhoon, of September 2nd, has recently undergone extensive re- pairs and appreciable improvement.

The machine struck the moun- tainside at 2.20 in the afternoon and immediately burst into flames.

The force of the impact caused the plane to turn over, and peasants who hurried to the spot, found the bodies 100 yards apart.

M. Villa, Albanian Minister, could only be identified by his gold [watch.

The Albanian Consul-General in also Rome, Signor Pugni,, was among the dead. Both had been attending King Zogu's wedding in Tirana.

The plane carried jewellery from a Paris firm for Countess Geraldine Apponyi's wedding present choice. The remainder, worth £20,000, was destroyed. Reuter.

MR. BUTLER'S RESIGNATION FROM I.L.O.

Geneva, Yesterday.

The governing body of the International Labour Office, at a private meeting to-day, dis- cussed the resignation of the British director of the office, Mr. Harold. Butler.

It is stated that the governing | body will consider, the question of Mr. Butler's successor at its next meeting on May 31.
