Mrs. O. Trotman, of Warwick- road, who found it, said:
"I kicked what looked like an empty ink bottle carton lying on the footpath:
"It seemed rather heavy, so I picked it up and opened it.
"Inside the box, resting on some cotton wool, was a man's finger. It looked as though it had been well cared for.
"I dropped the box, and went home and told my husband. He telephoned the police, who took the finger away with them."
The police say the finger was. recently amputated.
CAR DRIVEN 100 MILES IN 21 YEARS WILLED RELATIVES BY NEGRO
When Gus Gainey, an old negro- of Dunn, North Carolina, died, he left his relations a car which although 21 years old, is almost bran-new!
He bought the car in 1917. and drove it until the first five gallons of petrol were exhausted about 100 miles. He then reckoned that the car would be too expensive for him to keep up, so he laid it away in the garage and never drove it again.
The car is reported to be in first- rate condition, and Gainey's family expect it to enjoy a long life now that they have at last got it out- on the road.”
