ANOTHER RED ARMY PURGE?
3.1
The Chairman said:—
It is highly gratifying to the Direc- tors to present accounts showing a further improvement in the Company's trading results but I wish to remind shareholders that this restit has been largely obtained through the very drastic economies instituted in 1936 coupled with an increased turnover.
器
We have now carried on with greatly reduced Exropean staff and your Directors have felt for some time that this was throwing too great burden on
the Managing Director. After very careful consideration it was decided to engage an Assistant to Mr. Overy from the 1st March and conse- quently our overhead expenses for the current year will be heavier than the year ruder review.
BIGGER TURNOVER
I am pleased to report that turnover shows a substantial increase over the previous year and this is par- ticularly marked in the Cash Sales pointing to the popularity of our cash discount plan.
The increase in profit for the year to 28/2/1938 over the previous year amounted to approximately $8,300:00 and it is with pleasure that the Direc- tors come before you with a credit. balance at Profit and Loss Account:
It is early to give any indication of our trading for the curent year but I am glad to be able to announce that our turnover for. March compares. favourably with a year ago.
Mr. A. Nissim seconded and the re- port and accounts were adopted.
Mr. E. M. Raymond was re-elected to the Board of Directors, while Messrs. Linstead and Davis were" re- elected auditors.
The following attended:-Mr. J. E. Seth, chairman, Mr. E. M. Raymond and Mr. H. Overy (directors), Mr. W. L Alexander, secretary, and the fol lowing shareholders:-Messrs. A. Nis- sim, Harold Seth, and P. F. Wong,
