CHINESE CELEBRATING TAIERCHWANG VICTORY Chiang Kai-Shek Sounds Warning Voice. War Not Yet Over By A Long Way
Hankow, To-day. While celebrations are going on in Hankow at the news of the Chinese victory at Taierchwang, Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek has issued a circular telegram to all the armed forces of China and civilians throughout the nation, warning them that "this shall not be the time for rejoicings."
The Generalissimo hoped they would not be over- whelmed by news of the victory but would re- member more than ever the seriousness of the national crisis.
Nine months had elapsed since China took up arms in her self-defence, and during that period, the sacrifices of the armed forces had been most gallant while the sufferings of the civilian po- pulation had been heart-rending.
Fortunately, the Chinese people had developed through hard work and difficulties, and had endured undaunted in spirit.
"The success at Taierchwang
is a
concrete manifestation of
this spirit," he declared.
