CHINESE "Y"
“A” DIV. BADMINTON LEAGUE TITLE
IN BALANCE
The first of three matches in the "A" Division, of the Men's Doubles Badminton League, to decide the championship resulting from a tri- ple tie between Recreio, the Uni- versity and the Chinese YM.C.A... was held last night at the Taikoo Club, where the latter two teams clashed, the Undergraduates em- erging comfortable winners by 7 sets to 2.
The 'Varsity were a much better balanced combination, their third string of Yong and Chan proving every bit as good as Hui and K. L.! Yong, winning all their three sets.
The surprise of the evening was provided by F. Koh and C. Au, whr beat P. K. Hni and K. L. Yong! 24-19, after being: 15-19 in ar- rears. The Chinese "Y" pair play- ed brilliant badminton to stage a fine recovery, setting the game and then securing five outright aces for: the set.
NEVER AT BEST Patrick H. Wong, recently recov ered from an illness, was never at his best and, together with S. Y Hon, only managed to win one of three encounters.
The next match will take place Taikoo to-morrow night, at the Club, commencing at 8 p.m. wher Recreio clash with the University Last night's scores were:— · P. K. Hni and K. L. Yong (Univer- sity):

W. C. HUNG DEFEATS G CHOA
Craigengower Player's Erratic Start
George Chon, youthful Crai- gengower Cricket Club player, was defeated by W. C Hung, of the Chinese Recreation Club, by 16-2, 4-6, 7-5, in the Second Round of the Colony Lawn Tennis Sin- gles Championship, at the Hong Kong Cricket Club yesterday afternoon.
Choa started off badly, which could only be attributed to ner- vousness. He adopted the de- fensive, but made several, bad blunders and allowing his oppon- lent to take five games in succes- sion, and a later rally proved only la flash in the pan.
Choa settled down during the se- cond set, the first game of which was won by Hung. The former went ahead, however, displaying fine form, his back-hand strokes being excellently executed, but he was still erratic. He was leading by 4 games to 1 at one stage, but Hung gradual- ly picked up and levelled the scores, Choa, however, took the next two for the second set -
The deciding set saw both players at their best, but Hung's experience and coolness turned the issue în his favour
Choa displayed great promise, and, had he managed to settle down at the very beginning there is no doubt that he would have beaten Hung.

BATTLE FURIOUS
The two teams fought a furious 0-0 tie in the first half. Sherwood missed several heart-breaking at- tempts. With-Rafael Ygoa as goal- keeper and Ling Miranda and A. Pacheco as fullbacks, the English- men were desperately guessing for an opening throughout the game.
