The Japanese Foreign Minister is recorded as fav-

ouring seizure of the Shanghai Customs by the new Central China regime which is soon to be established, according to Domei, the Japanese news agency.

Concurring with the opinion of Mr. Seichiro Kita (Minseito Party), regarding disposal of the Shanghai Customs, the Minister remarked that in such an event it would be necessary to respect scrupulously the vested rights and in- terests of others.

PERCENTAGE ISSUE

Tokyo, Today. Negotiations are now in progress to decide what percentage of the Customs duties collected at Shang hai will be earmarked for paying interest and amortisation of those Chinese foreign loans guaranteed by Customs receipts, stated the Foreign Minister, Mr. Koki Hirota, in the House of Representatives yesterday.

Mr. Hirota also discussed the question of a uniform Customs tariff for all Ching, and declared that revision of the present tariff for Central China would be under- taken in order to remove dis criminations against Japan with- out, however, prejudicing foreign interests.

JUNK CAPTURED AND BURNED

The third recent instance of Japanese capturing and burning of junks was reported to the police to day on the arrival in Hong Kong of Lan Chi, victi- mised master of the craft.
