Vienna, To-day. The Chancellor, Dr. Schuschnigg, announced his resignation in a broadcast address throughout the country to-night, confirming that he had been forced to resign because Herr Hitler had threatened an armed invasion of Austria. He added that President Miklas had ordered him
to yield to force.
Germany, he said, demanded the replacement of
the Cabinet by one of Hitler's choice.
He concluded. "Thus I take my leave of Austrian
