BUKHARIN AND RYKOV DENY COMPLICITY IN KIROV MURDER

Moscow, To-day. Vishinsky, the public prosecutor, interrupted the proceedings at the treason trial and called Bukharin, one of the accused, to order when the former editor-in-chief of "Pravda” and "Izvestia" threatened to give the court a lec- ture on the "idealogical foundations" of the Rightist opposition.

Vishinsky ordered Bukharin to confine his evidence to his "concrete criminal activities as leader of the illegal opposition."

Bukharin, one of the outstand-jas in 1918, at the time of the Brest- ing figures in the Bolshevik Re-Litovsk peace parlers with. Ger- volution, cut a tragic figure as many. the prosecutor wormed out of him a confession on each of the charges brought against him.

At first, Bukharin fought back and refused to admit himself guilty of acts of sabotage and terrorism.

YAGODA'S ACCUSATION.

Yagoda was next on the stand and testified against Bukharin. Speaking in a low voice and with downcast eyes, the former chief of the dreaded Ogpu said that along with Bukharin and Rykov he had organised the murder of Kirov.

"If Bukharin and Rykov deny this, they are telling an untruth," he added.

Yagoda said he had signed the order for release of the murderer of Kirov after the first abortive

Bukharin next claimed the right to explain the programme of the Rightist opposition, “not to justify myself but to substantiate the ac- cusations brought against me.”

The Rightist, opposition, he said, had become divorced from the Party on the question of collectivisation of the agricultur al industry.

They had gone a step further and had encouraged peasant revolts.

The prosecutor again intervened and said he wanted no history of the opposition's beliefs. He again accused Bukharin of espionage. Bukharin denied the charge, and the proceedings were adjourned till Monday Trans-Ocean.
