Fighting has been resumed in eastern Shantung.
The heaviest fighting appears to be in the vicinity of Jihchao, where the Japanese launched a vigorous attack for hours and were repulsed, while a body of Manchukuo. troops surrendered. Later, the- Japanese, supported by a score of armoured cars, launched another attack. Early yesterday morning. their attack was again re- pulsed. The Chinese claim to have captured and des- troyed eight armoured cars and that both sides suffered hundreds of casualties.
A Government report an- nounced the recovery of Yi- shui, in eastern Shantung Province, by the Chinese yesterday. Hua Nan.

MR. HIROTA'S SURVEY OF FOREIGN FIELD
Tokyo, To-day. Reviewing foreign affairs be- fore the House of Representa- tives yesterday, the Foreign| Minister, Mr. Koki Hirota, men- tioned that anti-Japanese feeling had been growing in certain cir- cles in England during recent months.
He asserted, nevertheless, that' at the beginning of the conflict, England apparently understood the Japanese viewpoint.
Regarding the United States,
Mr. Hirota expressed acknow- ledgment of the "fair attitude observed by the U.S.A. through- out the conflict," except regard-] ing the naval problem, in which connection he said that the inter- national situation was very seri- ous at present. It was neces- sary to be secure against and every possibility.

While passing San Domingos Church in a rickshaw yesterday afternoon, a young. Chinese lady had acid thrown on her by an unknown Chinese. She was se verely burned about the hands.
The incident occurred soon after 5 o'clock and it is believed that the outrage was committed as an anti-Japanese gesture as the victim was dressed in blue-silk gown at the time.

FOUR INJURED IN EXPLOSION ON JUNK
Three children and a foki, Wong Yui-ling, were yesterday admitted to the Kowloon Hos- pital suffering from injuries received on board junk near Castle Peak, as the result of an explosión. One of the children. Wong Chi-hut had placed some powder in an old cannon and lighted it.
All the victims were suf fering from burns but none are serious.
