Mr. Eamonn de Valera, the Eire Premier, met Mr. Neville Chamber- lain in the House of . Commons, where he was cordially received by the Prime Minister.

London, To-day, Mr. De Valera had an hour's con- versation with the Prime Minister at the House of Commons yesterday afternoon and afterwards the first formal meeting of the resumed dis- cussions between the Ministers of the United Kingdom and Eire took place.
The Prime Minister, Sir Samuel Hoare, Sir Thomas Inskip and Mr. Malcolm Macdonald were present. The Chancellor of the Exchequer was unable to attend.
Discussions ranged over a wide field and embraced the questions of partition, defence, finance and trade. The meeting lasted an hour and a half.
Later, discussions affecting trade, and with a view to the conclusion of a trade agreement, were resum- ed between Messrs. Lemass, Ryan and Dulanty for Eire and for the United Kingdom; Mr. W. S. Morrison and Mr. Malcolm Macdonald. In the absence of Mr. Oliver Stanley, the Board of Trade was represent- ed by an official-British Wireless.
