It is reported here that the divergence in attitude to be adopted on the Italian question, which led to the resignation of the British Foreign Se- cretary, Mr. Anthony Eden, is now threaten- ing to disrupt the French Cabinet.

The Prime Minister, M. Chautemps is said to be in- clined to favour the outlook adopted by Mr. Chamberlain, while M. Delbos advocates con- tinued adherence to the present political course and is a firm supporter of Mr. Eden.

TALKS POSTPONED

London, To-day. ~ Formal Anglo-Irish talks have been postponed owing to the Prime Minister's preoccupation in the House of Commons, but pre- liminary conversations were held yesterday between British Minis- ters and the Irish delegation.

FRANCE AND ANGLO-ITALIAN TALKS

Paris, To-day.

The Foreign Minister, M. Yvon Delbos, yesterday told the for- eign affairs committee that if the Anglo-Italian⠀⠀⠀ talks succeeded, France might consider opening similar talks, subject to certain guarantees.

Referring to France's alliance with Czecho-Slovakia, M. Delbos said that if international-difficul- ties arose, France would have to remember her numerous agree- ments with this country, and France would honour them.

He added that he would ap- proach the League of Nations and endeavour to obtain from Great Britain a statement of their joint standpoint on the at- titude to be adopted. Reuter.
