Which Would You Rather Have?

This writer says a girl can have something far better than sex appeal and something more lasting. She tells you what it is

Of the three most startlingly beautiful girls I have known in my life, only one is married. And she married at thirty-three.

These girls had sex appeal to a degree excessively discourag- ing to the rest of us. I fancy the reason they did not marry was because their cavaliers inevitably perceived the vast difference that exists between sex appeal and marriage appeal.

What exactly is this difference?

I think in sex appeal a man sees the girl only in immediate rela- tion to himself. On the other hand, if she has marriage appeal he begins to vision himself in subsequent relation to her a far more analytical, vital, penetrating and lasting consciousness of the girl.
