WITH THE 1938 ANNUAL RACE. MEÈTING GRADUALLY DRAWING. NEAR, IT WOULD NO DOUBT BE OF INTEREST TO MY READERS TO HAVE SOME INFORMATION REGARDING THE JOCKEYS. WITH THE POSSIBLE EXCEPTION OF MR. D. S. LI, WHOSE ARRIVAL IS STILL UNCERTAIN. I BELIEVE THAT THIS YEAR WILL SEE A MUCH GREATER NUMBER OF JOCKEYS FROM SHANGHAI THAN HITHERTO, SOME OF THEM MAKING THEIR FIRST APPEARANCE ON THE LOCAL TRACK. AUGMENTED BY OUR LOCAL RIDERS, OWNERS SHOULD BE WELL PROVIDED FOR IN THIS DEPARTMENT.

During the 1936 and 1937 Meetings, Mr. V. V. Needa handled the string of ponies owned by the Sassoon Stable, and he won the Derby in both years, on Honeymoon Eve and Happy Eve respective- ly. This year he has changed places with Mr. F. Marshall, whol will take charge of the Sassoon ponies, whilst Mr. Needa will take over the Dynasty Stable, and possibly the ponies belonging to Messrs. F. C. Hall and John Peel.

Both these well-known jockeys In Time have been riding consistently in limelight. Hong Kong for a number of

DON BLACK'S CHARGES

Mr. Don Black, our champion jockey of 1936, will be riding for Messrs. Macgregor, Williamson, Sir V. M. Grayburn and Wong Sui Ngau, in ad- dition to which he will most likely ride second string for Mr. Dunbar,
