On June 28, the ring was pawn- ed at the Tai Fung Pawn Shop for $100 at $5 interest, by Lo Wah- 50, who was sentenced at the Novem- ber Criminal Sessions to five years hard labour for the theft.
Remarking that there must have been carelessness on the part of the pawnbroker, Mr. Williams ap- plied for an order for the return of the ring upon payment of $100 and interest or without payment.
After evidence by a Chinese Con- stable that he served a circular on the Tai Fung Pawn Shop, the Chief Justice ordered the ring to be re- turned to its owner without pay- ment.
