INTERNATIONAL SOFTBALL SERIES START NEXT SUNDAY

FILIPINOS AND CHINA “A” FORECASTED TO WIN DAY'S GAMES

TO-DAY'S “SPOTLIGHT”

(By “SHORTSTOP")

THERE will be a slight alteration in the schedule for the International Softball Series which commence next Sunday, January 30. Instead of the first game being played on the C.B.A., ground, it will be played on Club de Recreio's ground.

:

The Hong Kong contingent will have to be on their toes when they meet the Filipino boys, if they want to be in the final. There is small likelihood that the local boys will defeat the Islanders, but as it takes only one run to win a ball game, nothing definite can be said until the end of the last inning.

re-

The Machine Gunners, who form the nucleus of the Hong Kong squad, have taken to the game like ducks to water, and they have learnt the patois of the sport so well that their partees are usually twice as good as their opponents. Their sports- manship has been commendably noted upon during the season and the Softball League is looking forward to their entrance next

season.

SURPRISE PACKAGE

There will be a surprise package for the Portuguese team when they meet the Americans, on Monday, for the preliminary round. The Americans have a full line-up of baseball players whose powerful pegging in the infield leave nothing to be desired.
