MISS MARIE SMITH AS HALF-BACK!

RIDING BOY BOY THROWN AT VALLEY

(By "RAPIER")

Yet another accident occurred during training for the Annual Race Meeting this morning at the Valley, but happily without any serious effect. This time Ah Chi, Chinese riding boy of Marber Stable was concerned.

one of this

He took out Urber, year's subscription ponies belong- ing to Mr. B. W. Bradbury, and went out for a trial gallop in com- pany with Daddy Long-Legs, with Mr. S. L. Yuen on top.. When near- ing the 12-mile post, Ah Chi was heavily thrown. At first it was thought that he might have suffer- ed serious injury, as he failed to move for sometime, but he then got up and walked back to the stable unassisted.

The pony bolted back to the stable and was not seen out again..

PEARCE CUP

(By "STICKS")

THE result of the Ladies' Seven-a-Side Hockey Tournament, which takes place this afternoon on the Central British School ground, commenc ing at 2.45 p.m., is very open in view of the team selections which were made during the last two or three days.

The Selection of the “Y” Ladies' side, one of the strongest teams, has caused a minor sensation as Miss Marie Smith, one of the finest forwards in the Colony, has been relegated to a half- |back_position, while Miss Marjorie Westcott, one of the fastest girls playing hockey to-day y and the Colony left-winger, has been dropped altogether!

The Hong Kong Ladies, who are holders of the Pearce Cup trophy, have selected a DRAW FOR THE SEVEN-A-SIDE Much surprise has been occasion-formidable side and are obviously ed by the transfer of Miss Marie

TOURNAMENT Smith, above, as a half-back' in- stead of a forward, for to-day's Ladies' Seven-a-Side Hockey Tour- nament.
