Budget Balanced And Government Solvent
Paris, To-day.
Denial that there is any real cause for panic in the financial situation was made by the Premier, M. Camille Chautemps, in a fighting speech in the Chamber of Deputies yesterday.
M. Chautemps said the financial situation in December was satisfactory, and barring accidents, was on the way to creating confidence.
The postponement and reas- sembly of the Chamber was due to the Sociallists and ----
Com- munists, who were holding lengthy private sessions in the course of which questions were sent to the Government in regard to the Cabinet's proposed measures.
Apparently, these parties are still holding out for exchange control.ra
A deputation left the groups and interviewed M. Chautemps, after which it was stated that the Prime Minister might clari-. fy his references to the distur- bance of public order.
It is expected that after M. Chautemps has again address ed the Chamber, all the Popu- lar Front members will meet
