CONFERENCE'S FUTILITY

Brussels To-day.

THE draft declaration of the Brussels Conference decides to suspend the Conference to allow time for an exchange of views, and to explore the methods of bringing about peaceful settlement, but suspension does not imply any diminution of interest by the Powers in the Far East. It finally provides that the meeting can be recon- vened by the chairman or by any two members. There will probably be two sittings on Wednesday, the first at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, in order to complete the discussion and enable the Con- ference to adjourn.
