TRBONKURENTITETETZETAN
THE British Boxing Board of Control last night issued a number of ranking lists or rather lists of holders of championships affecting Bri- tish boxers. The only point of interest is the re- BRITISH assertion of the peculiar ostrich-like view, taken PLAYERS some months ago, that the heavyweight champion- SUCCESS ship of the world is vacant that Joe Louis is not a champion.
When consenting, in the face of severe criticism. some months ago, to recognise the proposed match between Max Schmeling and Tommy Farr as for the world's championship, they stated that Joe, Louis had never won the title. because James Braddock was under suspension locally in America when Louis beat him.

MCAVOY'S NEXT OPPONENT DEFEATED
John Henry Lewis, who is to de fend his world's lightheavy-weight championship against Jock McAvoy in London, probably next month was decisively outpointed by the Cuban heavy-weight, Isadore Gas- tanaga, at Detroit, last night. The fight was at catch-weights.
