The vessel's dimensions are 150 I 28′ 9′′ 3′′ moulded, in single deck type with raised forecastle and long super- structures aft Two large cargo bat- ches are served by five derricks operat- ed by electric winches and can handle lifts up to 8 tons. Accommodation for Delhi 12 first class passengers is arranged in six staterooms aft and the vessel has large dining saloon and smoking room. Officers and engineers are accommodat- ed aft and the crew quartered in fore- castle. Electric windlass is fitted on forecastle deck for operating stockless anchors. Vessel has been built to Lloyd's under special surver and to the latest B.O.T. requirements.

The "Yanawai" has twin four-cylin- der, single-acting, two-stroke, solid in- jection engines, developing 200 REP. at- 330 revs. per minute. Circulating fresh water, bilge, salt water, lubricat ing oil, and scavenge pumps, and com- pressors are all driven by the main en- gines, whilst auxiliary pumps and compressors are electrically driven by current supplied by two solid injection, three cylinder "Puston" oil engines of 40 BHP. each at 800 RPM*.

Of particular interest to marine en- gineers is the ease in which the main engines can be controlled. These con- trols are so arranged that it is possible when the engine is running in direction to bring the reversing lever full over to the position for running in the opposite direction without any dan ger of damage to the engine. The starting air acts against the main pis- tons to arrest. their movements and so accelerates the reversing process.
